sheila.JPGSheila Butkiewicz is a graduate of Penn State University, where she obtained her Bachelor or Arts degree in Music History, magna cum laude, and of Columbia University, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in Music Theory.  She has received training in the Dalcroze method and in early childhood music and movement at the Eastman School of Music.   

Upon completion of her master's degree, she returned to her hometown and began the Sheila M. Berger Piano Studio, teaching piano, organ and music theory for 11 years.  After taking several years off from teaching to raise her daughter, she opened Young Artists Music Academy in 2015 with the intention of providing excellence in private music instruction to the greater Hazleton area.  In 2017, she expanded her program to include early childhood music and movement classes.   

Sheila is a local church organist and the director of the Freeland Community Choir.  Sheila has served on the faculty of Penn State University, Hazleton, Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke, and MMI Preparatory School, Freeland.  She has been recognized by Steinway & Sons as a national top teacher, is a member of MTNA, Music Teachers National Association and NEPMTA, our local chapter.



Rachel Lipski earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with a focus on piano from Bloomsburg University where she was named "Outstanding Musician in Music Education" by the music department faculty.   Rachel studied under Dr. Charisse Baldoria and Jennifer Billig.  

Rachel has performed internationally with the Bloomsburg University Jazz Ensemble.  She was the featured pianist in George Gershwin's masterpiece, "Rhapsody in Blue" with the Bloomsburg University Wind Ensemble and has also performed in Carnegie Hall.  

Rachel is a member of MTNA and the local PMTA chapter.  She occasionally performs in recitals with local classical musicians, sharing her love of the piano with the community.  She is grateful to serve her church as pianist.
